Faith No More at Southside reviewed
There’s no doubt that Faith No More enjoyed their rain-soaked performance headlining the Southside Festival in northern Germany on Sunday night. Billy Tweeted as much last night: “The Southside Festival was great…the crowd was rained on throughout the entire set, but stuck it out and made the show totally worthwhile.”
Austrian broadcaster ORF were full of praise for the FNM peformance in their review. Sample quote: “A beautiful, albeit nostalgic conclusion for three eventful festival days. Because when you finally hear “Surprise, you’re Dead” again live after so many years you realise how old Faith No More and yourself have now become”.

Faith No More at Nova Rock, Southside and Hurricane
A stag weekend trip to Hamburg (a frustrating 70km away from the Hurricane festival) means I will not be around this weekend for FNM’s Teutonic triple-whammy of festival dates. I hope to provide some news though via Blackberry. Here’s some links and news that should help.
As always check Stubbadub and CacaVolante for news too. I’ll also be on Twitter here and regular commenter here tbeest is always quick with the set list news.
Nova Rock: Festival site is here. Not sure if they’ll have many updates and no live video is planned. Austrian TV station ORF has a preview here. It reports that tickets are still on sale so if you fancy seeing FNM on a smaller stage on the same night as Metallica, Nine Inch Nails and Slipknot you can still make it.
Hurricane Festival: FNM move on to the Hurricane Festival near Bremen in Germany on Saturday night, headlining the main stage at 23.00 after the Pixies and Social Distortion. Again tickets are still on sale with day tickets at €75. The Hamburger Morgenposten have a preview here.
Southside festival: Then its off to sister festival Southside in the south of Germany on Sunday. Its a similar bill to Hurricane with FNM on the main stage at 22.00. Again tickets are still on sale from local ticket outlets and at the festival site.
It seems that German TV channels ZDF and Arte will be filming both Hurricane and Southside for transmission in a series of programmes in August on ZDF anda 90-minute special in November on Arte. More here.
Faith No More to play second stage at Nova Rock

The re-formed rockers feature second on the Red stage – second stage – bill with a scheduled stage time of 20:40-22:00. Nine Inch Nails headline the same stage. Over on the main stage, Slipknot and Mastodon slightly clash with FNM but headliners Metallica are only on stage at 23:30. Meanwhile, FNM wil headline the main stage at both the Southside and Hurricane festivals this weekend.
Southside and Hurricane update
Somewhat belatedly we can acknowledge that Faith No More will play the main stage at Southside on Sunday 21 June with a slot from 22:00 to 23:30, the same time as Kraftwerk for any krautrock/synthpop fans out there. Earler in the day you can warm up for Faith No More with The Mars Volta, The Pixies, Duffy, Social Distortion, The Horrors, The Rakes and, er, Katy Perry and many, many more. For the sister Hurricane festival, Faith No More will play on Saturday 20 June with a headlining slot of 23.00 to 00:30 which means you’ll blissfully miss Ben Harper at the same time.
(I had planned to go to these two dates but have a stag do this weekend so I’ll be hitting Frankfurt on 22 June instead (and hopefully Brixton, Greenfield, Rock In Idro, Area 4, Highfield, Sziget and Rock en Seine too.)
Faith No More to play Frankfurt indoor date
It looks like Faith No More are lining up a SIXTH German tour date on The Second Coming Tour 2009. The Twitter feed of the laut.de German music site reports that the reformed group will play in Frankfurt’s Jahrhunderthalle on Monday 22 June. The gig will be their fourth in four days and yet another German stop. Faith No More have already confirmed dates at the Kindl-Bühne Wuhlheide in Berlin and the Hurricane and Southside Festivals in June and the Highfield and Area 4 festivals in August.
Update. This has now also been confirmed on the venue website. Tickets on sale shortly.
Note: All tour dates wil be updated on the right column later today.
Sunday night at Southside

An unofficial Southside Festival blog has Faith No More indeed headlining on the Sunday night 21 June on the Green Stage at the Southside Festival in Germany. Faith No More 2.0 will be there.
Hurricane Festival update
The buzz on the forum for the Hurricane Festival suggests that Faith No More will play there on the Saturday.
We can surmise the following dates so far:
Friday 12 June: Download Festival
Friday 19 June: Nova Rock
Saturday 20 June: Hurricane Festival
Sunday 21 June: Southside Festival
Tour update
Users on the forum of the official website of the Southside Festival in Germany seem to think that Faith No More will play there on the Sunday night, 21 June. Social Distortion, Moby and Kraftwerk are also rumoured to be on stage that night. Remember they play Southside, Hurricane and Nova Rock in the same weekend, 19-21 June. No day-by-day breakdowns of the festivals have been issued. More news when we have it.
