Faith No More Greatest Hits chart news

[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="304" caption="New album ((c) CacaVolante)"]New album ((c) CacaVolante)[/caption]

Given that its around the fifth hits compilation from Faith No More, sales and charts expectations for The Very Best Definitive Ultimate Greatest Hits Collection were not too high but it has scored a few charts successes. Finland once again lives up to its reputation as a hard rock heaven as the album went straight in at number 6 in this week’s album chart there, the second highest new entry after Sweden’s The Sounds.

The download version seems to be selling well in the UK featuring at number 6 in the MP3 album category on Amazon. The physical release album is 663 in the Music Bestsellers list and 13th in the Hard Rock and Metal Greatest Hits category. In Germany, the download version is 92 in the MP3 album chart and 343 in the physical chart.
In the iTune charts the big news is that the album is number 3 in the Rock Album chart for Switzerland, where FNM played last Saturday.

  • Could there really be Faith No More shows scheduled for New York? In an interview with metal magazine site Metalholic, Justin Foley from Boston-based band Killswitch Engage suggested that his band will be playing some dates with the reformed Faith No More in New York. Here’s the relevant extract: “Metalholic: Are you more into older stuff, or newer stuff or a combination? JF: Maybe older.  I guess there’s not too much stuff that’s very recent that I listen to a lot.  Actually, Faith No More.  I think part of it is because they’re in reuniting mode.  They’re doing some shows in NY, and they’re doing one that we’re on with them.”
I’ll leave that to yourself to work out. All I know for certain is that Killswitch Engage are on the Download and Nova Rock bills with Faith No More so maybe there is some confusion from that.
  • We finally have some details on the Faith No More Finland date. As reported, the date is Wednesday 24 June with gates opening at 1630. Tickets go on sale next Monday 20 April from here and here.
  • I simply had to include the pic above from Ryan James Terry that I have seen on a few blogs now – Patton Archivio and A Thousand Points of Light. Wonder what the band make of it, especially Puffy?
  • I’ve been thinking of this quite a bit lately but Faith No More certainly seem to be reinventing how bands communicate with their fans with Bill and Roddy’s Twitter updates. It has not gone unnoticed with the Italian tech site MyTech.it reporting on the band’s web 2.0 approach, saying that while the new site is simple, almost bare,it links to MySpace, Twitter and Flickr and adds that Roddy and Bill are providing micromessaging almost in real-time of the band rehearsals.

Faith No More for Finland

Faith No More will play Helsinki on 24 June, Bill Gould has confirmed on Twitter – look to the right. The festival is the Tuska Open Air Metal Festival at Kaisaniemi. Other acts on the bill are Parkway Drive and Bullet for my Valentine. Faith No More are the biggest act by far to headline the metal festival with Slayer having topped the bill in 2008.

A further update: the festival site has no update on Faith No More and the dates for the event are listed as 26-28 June so at this stage all we can surmise is thar FNM are serving as a spectacular prequel.

A further update: Leading Finnish newspaper Helsingin Sanomat quotes Outi Alander of event organisers Finnish Metal Events as saying that all will be confirmed in a few weeks. Faith No More have been regular visitors to Finland, regarded by many as the world’s biggest metal hotbed, and last played there  at Kulttuuritalo in Helsinki on 28 July 1997 (cheers Trevize for the correction). We’ll have more details later today when hopefully there will be further updates in the Finnish media.
