CHARTS: Sol Invictus takes number 10 place in official Irish charts

May 22nd, 2015|Faith No More, News|0 Comments

The first official chart placing for Faith No More’s album Sol Invictus and it goes in at number 10 in Ireland on the IRMA album charts. It is quite an achievement for the album as there has been literally no promo of the record in  – no interviews, no album reviews, no scheduled concerts.

Faith No More are also number two on the independent albums chart behind Irish act Fight Like Apes.

Public broadcaster RTE reported today: “New on the album chart this week are Irish act Fight Like Apes with their self-titled release, Killers’ frontman Brandon Flowers with The Desired Effect, Paul Weller with Saturns Pattern and rap metal pioneers Faith No More with Sol Invictus.” Number one is the latest poster boy for Ireland’s own peculiar genre of faux-country, adopted Irishman Nathan Carter.

Ireland, vote yes.

(US Faith No More fans, stream the shite of the album now please)

twenty one pilots is set for the number one spot and FNM will look to, er, beat off the Zac Brown Band, Brantley Gilbert, Meghain Trainor and the 50 Shades of Grey soundtrack for a top 10 spot. Links for a day…(vol. 175): US chart preview, tour posters, win Sol Invictus

May 21st, 2015|Faith No More, Links for a day, News|7 Comments

US chart preview

US chart site Hits Daily Double estimates that Faith No More’s Sol Invictus will sell in the region of 21-24,000 copies in its first week of release with 22-25,000 for sales plus streaming. That would bring SI close to the first-week sales figures of 26,000 for Album of the Year. They estimate that Sol Invictus will only be the fifth best-selling of the new entries in the chart, therefore facing a battle for the top 10.

That said, Sol Invictus remains at number 3 on Amazon.com in CDs and MP3s and has hovered in an around the top 10 on iTunes all week.
Faith No More have only hit the US album chart top 10 once previously when Angel Dust debuted at number 10 in July 1992.

US tour posters on sale

Those wonderful posters from the Faith No More US tour shows are still on sale at Secret Serpents. They say: “Faith No More just wrapped up the first leg of their North American tour, and once again we curated the posters for the tour. The copies at the shows sold out VERY quickly, but we made sure we had some available to those who couldn’t make it. We have very few copies left of most of these, so don’t miss out!”

And Secret Serpents also say that there will be more posters from later US shows and the European tour on sale later in the year.

WIN Sol Invictus CD packs

Australian Guitar have teamed up with Mushroom Promotions, Reclamation Recordings and Ipecac Recording to offer three Faith No More packs to giveaway. Each pack contains a copy of Sol Invictus and an A2 album promo poster. CHECK IT OUT HERE.

CHARTS: Faith No More v Mumford and Sons for UK chart #3

May 20th, 2015|Faith No More, News|1 Comment

The Official Chart Company confirmed today that Faith No More is behind Brandon Flowers and Paul Weller in the UK Midweek album chart.

They say: “US rock band Faith No More are set for their fourth UK Top 10 album this week with Sol Invictus, which is new at Number 3, while Mumford & Sons’ Wilder Mind is at 4, and Taylor Swift’s 1989 completes the Top 5.”

Both Flowers and Weller are selling at twice that rate of Sol Invictus and FNM will do well to hold off the very embodiment of the sorry state of alt-rock to take the number 3 slot.

CHARTS: Faith No More number 3 in German midweek charts; number 1 in Europe on iTunes

May 20th, 2015|Faith No More, News|1 Comment

Faith No More looks set for a high chart placing in Germany according to the official midweek figures for the German album charts which have just been released.

Faith No More’s Sol Invictus is number 3 in the midweek chart behind two other new entries from former Eurovision winner Lena and Andreas Gabalier.
The official full chart is published on Friday.

germanmidweek

Putting that German performance into context, FNM’s best ever chart performance in Germany saw Album of the Year reach number 2 in 1997. Angel Dust and King for a Day both peaked art number 8 and The Real Thing at only 37.

One more curio from Germany. Superhero is currently number 15 in the Indie Disko Top 40. This is an official trendcharts.de chart in Germany based on DJ, radio and college DJ plays. This was up from 36 the week before.

Australia

No figures from Australia but The Music reports that Faith No More are in a battle for the number one spot in the ARIA chart. They report:.

“Veteran US rock group Faith No More just yesterday released their first studio album in eighteen years, Sol Invictus, but they may have to contend with a certain Aussie duo for glory on this week’s ARIA Album Charts.
While the San Fran founded quintet look to clinch a top three spot, electronic group Hermitude are in a similar spot after the release of their fifth studio album, Dark Night Sweet Light.
It will be a very interesting week for sales and we gave both albums glowing reviews, while Hermitude received our pick for album of the week”

iTunes

Faith No More remain number one in 7 countries in the iTunes album chart – and are number one in Europe and number 2 globally on the kworb chart of overall chart peformance (not sales) on iTunes. At present, they are number one in Chile, Denmark, Finland, Israel, Norway, Poland and Slovakia and number 8 in the US.

UK

As we reported yesterday, Faith No More’s Sol Invictus is on target for a number 3 placing in the official UK album chart. It is unlikely to catch fellow new entries Brandon Flowers or Paul Weller for the number one or two spot and will have to hold off competition from toff banjo bandits Mumford and Sons and non-dance dance act Hot Chip for the number 3 slot.
