Matt Wallace has again spoken about Sol Invictus and his earlier work with Faith No More. His latest interview – with Diffuser – is probably his best and sheds new light on part recordings:
He reveals that John Hiatt (or his son at least) was a Faith No More fan:
Apparently, he would drive his son to school, and his son’s the one who played him the Faith No More stuff and said, “You should make a record with this guy.” So that’s how I got the gig. [Laughs.] I think John at the time was kind of going through a musical midlife crisis, where he wanted to try some new ideas.
Matt also clarifies Jim Martin’s participation on Angel Dust:
So he definitely did play, I’d say, 95% of the guitars. And it was really my fault that there was any question about that in the past.
Mike Bordin has given another interesting interview ahead of the band’s South American tour – this time to Brazil’s Globo.
He said: “What matters is that we always give everything we have on stage. We touch not only with our hands and feet, but with our hearts. Look at our singer. He’s a maniac, a madman. And the more you give it, the more it gives back.”
Faith No More in Costa Rica
Meanwhile, the band are currently in Costa Rica where they will play for the first time tomorrow night, 15 September.
