  1. Integra says:

haha! these chicks are losers! “GENIUS! genius idea!” i think they were a bit wet for F.N.M. if you know what I mean…;-)

F.N.M. did 3 songs on this show: “Midlife Crisis”, “A Small Victory” and “Caffeine”

  2. Eric says:

Right continent, wrong coast. Come on Mike – EAST – EAST!!

  3. Megan says:

@Eric – I’m hoping Patton brings it to the East Coast. I’m tempted to fly my butt out to SF to see Mondo Cane, though…

  4. JDub says:

The last song on the setlist for FNM was “Kashmir” whose lyrics say “My Shangri La beneath the summer moon will return again, sure as the dust that floats behind you.” Will they return again hell yeah I don’t care if they played the damn song

  5. Megan – apparently a full US tour is coming in 2011 – 2012, including Baton Rouge, if that’s closer to you :)

  6. Ti Mort says:

Lusty – are talking a MC tour or an FNM tour……??????……..(tears)…….

  7. Ti Mort – awww no sorry, MC not FNM :(

  8. Firsa says:

Lusty ~ I hate to get in your face again, but are you assuming that from this:

    http://www.coachella.com/forum/showpost.php?p=1830177&postcount=3592

…? Or did you confirm with Mike? Not that it doesn’t make complete sense – since that seems to be what he wants to do – but it’s still just a rumor right now. Either way, I’m still holding out on buying plane tickets to SF…

  9. Ti Mort says:

I’m making a sad face right now Lusty……oh well…it will happen!!!!

  10. Krystalita says:

Super excited to see Mondo Cane in SF… I’m not missing this for anything!!

  11. Sheesh Firsa, get out of my face! :)

Yeah, that’s totally where I’m getting in from. Nothing confirmed, which is why I said “apparently” – who knows, I know the girl who said that on the forum, she’s legit and I don’t see why she would be given bad information.

But, still rumours – which is why I asked the guitarist what the deal is and will let you know what he says.

Anyway, I’ve pretty much got my San Fran situation sorted, so I’m there. Excited!

  12. Megan says:

@Lusty – That would be freaking fantastic if that pans out! Baton Rouge isn’t too close (closer than SF)but if it’s anywhere in the vicinity of Philly, I’d be all about it. I’d love for MC to come to NYC or Chicago. Part of me wants to bite the bullet and go to San Fran to visit as I’ve never been. GAHHH… such a predicament.

  13. Megan says:

Who wants to take a nice girl from Philly to SF in their suitcase? I promise to repay in lots and lots of beer :) .

  14. Ti Mort says:

Interesting….from all the articles I’ve read the Mondo Cane tour will be short and sweet….only a handful of shows due to the expense of the project…..has something changed? Touring in 2011 and 2012 won’t work either due to the FNM world tour in support of their new album!!!!

  15. mikeniker says:

anyone else notice the cobra performance with zorn amongst a dozen people, mike patton, trevor dunn, and trey spruance will be sharing the stage? pretty cool. i can’t make it to sf so hopefully someone youtubes it

  16. Ti Mort – you’re right it is a very long time, I would assume that they would be touring like here and there during 2011, 2012. Maybe every few weeks at a time every 3 months or so? Who knows! Still, good news all around for us North Americans, San Fran is a great start :)

  17. Whit says:

Lusty, if you haven’t figured it out yet, I’m daxton… Very reliable source gave me the info, the guy I traveled with to Scotland and Ireland for the FNM shows last August. But, yeah, it’s all still up in the air it seems.

  18. Krystalita says:

mikeniker: Yeah, tickets were still available when I checked yesterday. I wish I could make it to the show, but I’m definitely with you on hoping it gets uploaded.

  19. Whit – well that’s why I said you’re “legit” lol

  20. Whit says:

    You’re a smart girl.

  21. Sophie says:

NOBODY knows when or where Mike will take more Mondo Cane shows, I wish people would cut the crap and stop having debates online about whether they “know” facts or are legit, because nobody has the facts until the actual dates are announced. I never go by rumours. Even Mike himself starts rumours! Never believe what the man says until it happens!

Mike admitted that he wants to take the show to Australia at some point, but it is a very expensive procedure to tour with Mondo Cane and loads of rehearsing to do, too. He may not even get around to going that far. I can’t see him taking all the European tour musicians on the US tour. Doesn’t anyone else here realize how expensive that would be, he would have to pay thousands of dollars in work visas! Mike will probably use US musicians in his Mondo Cane orchestra for any US shows.

Anyway, screw Mondo Cane – get on with touring with Tomahawk!! I want crazy Mike back!

  22. Well Sophie, the dates were announced. October 1-3rd Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival. That’s what’s confirmed and what we are all freaking excited about.

  23. Firsa says:

Sophie ~ how crazy do you want the man? He hasn’t exactly been the perfect choirboy during the Mondo Cane shows :) But I see what you mean…

So if Patton and FNM just want to blow bubbles at us for now regarding their future tour dates and plans, that’s all we have to work with. It’s like being a kid, staring at wrapped presents under a Christmas tree. We can’t help but guess and get all worked up about it. And those bastards know it!

Not that any confirmed dates will make a difference to me personally ~ I realized I’ll be broke for the time being after my Chicago/Seattle trip in September. I’m just being difficult :) Sorry Lusty!

  24. Integra says:

i cant take this anymore NEWS???

    F.N.M Q&A???

“do you have something to tell me?….say something!……………ANYTHING!!!”

  25. Sophie says:

I want the full essence of PATTON POWER that everyone was treated with during all the Faith No More shows.

FANTOMAS! TOMAHAWK! MOONCHILD! Mike at his batshit craziness, top-of-the-league onstage insanity!

    Get it…?

Bollocks to the San Francisco festival, I am in Europe and had plenty of Patton treats in the last year, but it’s the waiting that is making us Europeans impatient again!

    BRING BACK MIKE!

  26. Whit says:

Sophie, just to be clear, I never started a rumor or said I knew for a fact he was playing any unannounced US dates. I merely relayed a message from a good friend who read an offer letter from Mondo Cane to a theater in Louisiana. It’s just something to look forward to that gives us North Americans some hope for a tour. Whether it happens or not is beyond me, but the information is valid.

  27. Sophie says:

Whatever, I don’t care, I won’t be going to any US Mondo Cane shows anyway. I can easily see Mondo Cane shows happening in other US cities, for sure.
@ Whit – If that potential concert invite was for New Orleans then that would be awesome. I love new Orleans. Obviously if I was still living in California, I would travel for a show there and go to the San Francisco festival as it’s in Golden Gate Park and I love that place. Rather far to travel to for a few shows if you live back in Europe like I now do!

With Patton comes patience. You just never, ever know what he’s up to next until he announces his plans. I just have to admit that I am missing the gas mask antics and onstage weirdness. It’s been three years now since Tomahawk actually did any shows and looks like new Fantomas won’t see the light of day until the end of 2011 at this rate….

    but we never really know….

  28. Whit says:

    I’d prefer Tomahawk too. I wish…

  29. Firsa says:

Here’s a nice taste of the Sudoeste MC concert, swapped shamelessly from MOTO:

    http://sic.sapo.pt/sicradical/programas/sudoeste/videos/?videoId={CD8B27FE-4605-40E0-97B4-B84D38923859}

Was this concert on livestream? If it was I missed it :(

  30. admin says:

    Thanks for that.
Anyone got any info at all from the Big Chill. Radio silence in the UK about Mondo Cane though I know that MIA cut her set short and that Lily Allen played “her last ever gig”?

  31. One blogger said (re: Big Chill) “Mike Patton’s Mondo Cane – Mike Patton is the freaking man and I got right to the front. This was maniacal genius, it made me so insanely happy. My total hero.”

And that’s about it, lol. So… it was good? :)

  32. Sophie says:

Big Chill wasn’t actually Lily’s ‘last ever gig’, she is pregnant and getting married! She did make a statement that she is going on a long hiatus from music, but it’s not completely retiring from music. She said that a while back before she ever got pregnant that she wanted to take a break from the music business to try out other things. Good for her.

I got messages from two people I met in Bilbao for Faith No More who went to see Mondo Cane at the Big Chill and they said it was brilliant, but disappointing that Mike wasn’t even on for a whole hour. The weather wasn’t very good on Friday, either. The Big Chill Mondo Cane set was about 45 minutes. I was going to go, but decided against travelling all that way for such a short set and I was only interested in Mondo Cane, Thom Yorke and Massive Attack for that whole festival, so not worth it. I wish Mike had done just headline Mondo Cane only concerts and not part of festivals this time, but it wasn’t to be.

  33. Ti Mort says:

Sophie…no offence…but you need to chill it out a bit….nobody likes a no it all…..

  34. Sophie says:

I was only having my opinion and I do not know it all at all, I did not go to Big Chill. This couple I met in Bilbao got in touch with me and told me about Mike’s set at Big Chill. I couldn’t care much for Lily Allen, I think her lyrics and music is shit and glad she’s going away! Hopefully for good so we see a lot less of her in the tabloids!

Haven’t seen any good videos of the Big Chill performance in YouTube yet. Anyone found any yet?

  35. Sophie says:

Nothing at all – yet. I just had another look. There’s lots of footage from Portugal, but absolutely nothing from the UK Mondo Cane performance at all.

  36. Ti Mort – you had the perfect opportunity to turn that into a “Big Chill” pun!

  37. Ti Mort says:

Lusty – I often miss those opportunities….damn my inability to be witty!!!! Cursed life I lead!!!!!!

  38. Firsa says:

Hey ~ I changed my mind! Figured I already saw FNM last April, and am pretty sure Mondo Cane will never come to Hawaii, so…

I’m going to the bluegrass festival… and no, I can’t afford it! I am one happy crazy person. Hee-haw! :)

  39. Megan says:

@Firsa – Hehe I’ve thought about just biting the bullet and going to San Fran for the bluegrass festival, too. Alas, all of my money is now going toward the FNM show in LA. I guess I’ll just wait for the US tour of MC and then run around for that.

  40. Firsa says:

It was tough because I really wanted to see both, and I had to pick one… But all things considered, flying in to see the free MC show in San Francisco was the better choice.

Well, saving my money was *really* the better choice, but screw it, I’m going ;)

But I’m looking forward to your pictures and stories from the LA show!
