Just when it appeared that Mike Patton’s solo date in Amsterdam would signal the end of the FNM reunion, the band have announced their opening two European festival dates of the summer and promised more to follow.
Indeed, should they follow the often hectic schedule of their 2009 European tour, it seems likely that Faith No More will squeeze in another date on the same weekend as their Optimus Alive and Sonisphere engagements in Portugal in Spain. The Bilbao BBK Live festival, which also features Rammstein from Sonisphere and Pearl Jam from Optimus, looks a good bet. Also on the same weekend are the mammoth and related Oxegen and T in the Park festivals in Ireland as well as the Ruisrock festival in Finland, which FNM headlined last year, and Serbia’s iconic Exit festival. Oxegen has gone somewhat hip-hop this year and the bill looks loaded but more names will be revealed on 8 March. T in the Park has already announced its headliners and is sold out so looks a remote possibility.
With as many as ten major festivals taking place across Europe on some weekends, further summer speculation would be laborious and ill-informed. However, some news to keep an eye out for next week is the announcement of the final headliner for the United Kingdom Sonisphere date. No word of an exact date yet but this week’s announcement came on Tuesday. Iron Maiden and Rammstein are already conformed for the Knebworth two-dayer on Friday 30 July and Saturday 1 August.
A confirmation for that and suddenly a whole summer of FNM again looms appealingly for European fans. What though for the US and north America in general? Three Warfield dates and the Coachella festival have been confirmed so far and there’s not even a sniff of a rumour of anything else as of yet. Some fans have taken the new European dates as a sign that there won’t be any more US shows but there is still plenty of time to fit in more dates before a European jaunt and it must be remembered that the lucrative European festival circuit was more than likely the trigger for the whole reunion in the first place so it is hardly surprising that it is being milked again.
As for a new record, again speculation is all I can offer but it does appear that the band have not even got so far as discussing the prospect in detail as of yet. Whatever the future holds, just over one year after the announcement that Faith No More would reform, the Second Coming adventure continues to enthrall.
Let us know your thoughts below.

I just want to say that Polish fans are waiting for another amazing concert.
At least closer than in Spain or Portugal:)
You give us fever!
I was very confused by Mike Patton’s earlier comment about the fact that should they release a new album they won’t “compose” anything. What do you suppose that means? I really didn’t understand that comment. The only thing I can think of is that they may have enough unreleased material for another album. Does anyone think that is possible?
Here in the NYC area…waiting patiently but am getting a little antsy. Come on…announce a date here so I can enjoy holding a FNM ticket in my hand.
Talk of a new album is the elephant in the room for the FNM guys. They keep signing up for new shows and cashing the cheques but I suspect the Second Coming will be over when the offers dry up. Writing together, the promotion that follows and another world tour would be too much hassle. I hope i’m wrong but i just don’t see a new album happening.
I Think i would loose a little respect for faith no more if they didn’t come out with a new album. After waiting all these years just to get together and make a ton of money over in another country would just make me cringe. I was very happy to see them back together but if that is all they got back together just to put on some shows to make some money then i would rather they stay back in their grave.
@Rob : kind of annoying, but your comment really makes sense. :-/
come on people, just enjoy the concerts and stop whining.
i get the impression that it’s never enough for some people.
but the reality is that there will always be a venue or a festival or a country which will be ‘left out’, there will always be an album which should have been made, and if not, chance is there will be an album which doesn’t live up to everyones expectations.
and about the money-imputations: this is actually their JOB.
It’s sad for me as a fan the prospect that these guys may not record an album AND we may not get to see them live here in the states. However, as good as the recent shows have been, I’d really rather hear new music from these guys than hear the old stuff rehashed live. I’ve been listening to FNM CDs with nothing new for 12 years now and while all the Patton projects have been excellent, there’s something special about this band when they play together. I really want another album release and I think the caliber of performance at the shows demonstrates these guys still have it as musicians (and presumably writing together). As much as I love Fantomas, Tomahawk, Peeping Tom, Mondo Cane, Imperial Teen etc and all the side collaborations, I’d happily sacrifice a future album or two of these if it mean expediting the new FNM album process.
Roddy and Bill if you guys are reading this – please for us Aussie expats who live in the US and missed your shows due to the fucking tyrannic distance of the Pacific ocean – record another album.
Mouse is right (although a bit rude) we should all be happy that they ever REUNITED at all!!! Each new tid bit of info is very exciting. LONG LIVE FAITH NO MORE!!!!!!!
I still have 3 tickets for wednesday 14th floor. let me know we will talk money (I just want my money back) and I’ll mail them right away!!!! Only 39 more sleeps!!!!!!
I doubt there will be another album (though what a wet dream it would be to have a double disc!) but that doesn’t mean the band is just milking the Second Coming for money.
Money is good, but the band knows how well-received it was last year in Europe and wants to keep that vibe going – people are super excited to see them again, they like to give those fans what they want, and let’s face it, the band looks like they are having the time of their lives.
As for US dates, well as you can see if you’re really worried, there are still tickets to the Warfield that you can find easily.
I know plenty of people who declined going to California because they assumed the band would come to their neck of the woods.
Lesson is: never assume. Hence why I got Warfield fix.
That said, I would like to hear more about that tidbit that the Stubb A Dubb blog put out, the one that said the US tour (when it does happen) would be only West and East Coast. Can we get the original link to that info???
Cheers,
Lusty
Cheers for embracing the debate everyone. This is the first post in weeks to score more views on a given day than the Patton penis post! It does seem likely that more July festival dates are on the cards. I hope they swing by Montreux or Paleo in Switzerland as I’m supposed to be saving for a wedding this year so won’t be following them quite as much as last year. That said, a weekend in Lisbon is tempting.
“a weekend in Lisbon is tempting” – you’re telling me!
I can’t imagine a scenario where FNM doesn’t play a single show on the east coast. Playing NY is a must, otherwise people really have a legit complaint. I am a huge FNM from the bay area, and even I wouldn’t go all the way to NY. So I feel for the east coast fans, even though I think they will get their shows.
As far as the new album, didn’t FNM put out all those different greatest hits albums to get out from under their label. Mike Patton has his own label now and I could see them releasing a FNM album on Ipecac. Ipecac should be a way for them to keep a lot of money and artistic integrity. We can only hope!
“As far as the new album, didn’t FNM put out all those different greatest hits albums to get out from under their label.”
I honestly think the band has zero say in what kind of latest greatest hit CD is released or not, but now that you mention it I seem to recall they did break up at a time where they still did have contract obligations to their label.
“Mike Patton has his own label now and I could see them releasing a FNM album on Ipecac. Ipecac should be a way for them to keep a lot of money and artistic integrity.”
I was thinking the same thing but they seem to be courting a major label backer. I’m blissfully ignorant on what it takes to make a record and just like what it takes to make a hotdog, I don’t want to know. But I think they would use Ipecac as a backup plan if everything else falls through and they really wanted to do it.
And I might be the lone voice of dissent here, but I’m perfectly OK with them not putting out a new CD. Actually, I kind of prefer they NOT put out a new CD if they’re not feeling it. Don’t give into peer pressure and don’t phone in a new CD like all these other reunited bands that get back together and then put out a shitty CD. Just say No.
It’s kind of funny to me that the European festival circuit is like Vegas to FNM.
It’s also kind of funny to think of FNM in terms of a superhero.
In the US they’re a mild mannered ,90’s, 1-hit wonder band (whasssup VH1!) that can sell out a club but be completely ignored when playing a Coachella. But you put them overseas though and they are stadium gods with superpowers to sellout stadiums. It’s kind of funny.
REAL FANS would do anything to see them…just so you know I am coming from a wee little town in Northern Ontario to see 2 shows at the WARFIELD so don’t talk about not travelling….Boo Hoo…you want to see them that badly you know they will be in Cali for 3 shows…that’s 3 opportunities…or you go to one of those crap festivals (cochella). REAL FANS would make the sacrifice…what if this is it….won’t you all be dissappointed…..no regrets…don’t get lost in the shuffle saying “if only…”
Arrrgh! My home computer picked a crap time to get a virus and I don’t have enough time\privacy to really express my thoughts here at work.
So, abbreviated: a) I’m not going to even try to figure them out or predict what they will do. b) I don’t care where they go after the SF shows – just FILM it, kiddies. c) I’d rather hear more of their side projects than a new album. d) I really don’t think they are in this for just the money. Cheers…
Yes, to mort 25, if only everyone had enough money to blow on these guys like you did. Hey, if you’re gonna be so high and mighty about this, how bout lending me some money to see them? Maybe then I’ll stop “whining”. Don’t even start about “real fans”. “Real fans” are being realistic.
Once in a lifetime opportunity my friend….how bad do you want it…it’s not high and mighty at all…I have saved every fricking penny to be their…and I will be…best I could offer to help a brother out would be a free ticket to the show….yes…I would do that for a complete FNM stranger. But, you still need to get there. Let me know….no hard feelings.
Europe – that’s a great news! So after the fantastic performance in Gdynia, Poland, come to us again! Polish fans are waiting on you !!! Don’t let us be disappointed:) After all, at the end of the show Mike said “thank you! that was amazing! see you again, ha?” So don’t forget about Poland this summer !!!
I have saved ever penny as well (and I don’t have a job, which is only because I’m 17 and live in a small town right now where nobody is hiring). Stupid as it sounds, I sold part of my “rare” FNM collection TO save up for this! I’d love to get there, somehow. But, if I can’t, I can live with myself if I never get to see them.
ti mort, i need a ticket for the 14th! are they general admission or are they in the balcony?
and yes, I will be there. I only need one ticket for my friend that didn’t think he was going to be able to make it. i can meet you at the Monday show and pay you cash.
new date:

I don’t see any reason why FNM shouldn’t milk it. These songs are a product they created. They’ve never really cashed in on them in the past because of contracts during The Real Thing, then from their they went down in popularity. After they were gone, every nu-metal band that was influenced by them cashed in. So, now it’s their turn. There’s no shame in making money off your own product if there was integrity in making it. Which is definitely the case with FNM.
Also, I think the band members realize that this brings much needed exposure to their respective side projects which have been slowing down as of late in terms of sales.
Mondo Cane (and Pattons’ future projects) will be listened to by many more people because of this. I’m sure Imperial Teen will tour and get larger audiences and Kool Arrow will experience better sales.
In regards to shows in the States, I think they will tour. They can’t sell out 3 solo shows in SF if they don’t keep it tight-lipped. These aren’t just SF fans selling out the 3 nights and many people are attending more than one night. I know many people that are traveling from out of town. They’ll do a tour with a big band… the market isn’t as big over here for them to do a solo tour with smaller bands. I’ve heard of tours with either Tool or Soundgarden. Either would make sense. Either that, or they’ll just do 3 nights in LA and 3 nights in NY.
As for a new album, I guarantee collectively they have enough material. As others have stated, they could put it out on Ipecac, have control and see good profits. Who knows what their decision will be based on with this and if we’ll ever see another album.
For now, I’m very content to see them twice in San Francisco.
Good thing for user Jones who took the words right out of my mouth. Since Mort is loaded please pay for my trip also! There’s no reason for no NYC dates period!!! Like I already stated peeping Tom (twice) and fantomas once all sold out in NYC!! There’s obviously a big demand for FNM here! And Mort seriously wat u said is borderline offensive to people who can’t afford to throw more than a grand towards travveling to see FNm. To those who can, Awesome !
Hey Steve. They are general admission. I won’t be at the monday show only Tuesday and Wednesday. If it is at all possible would you mind sending me your e mail address and we can talk more seriously about how I can get you this ticket.
And hey…17 tweener…listen I have followed and met (twice by the way) Mike Faith no more and all other endeavours since 1988. That’s right since the mid eighties kids. So 17 don’t talk to me about saving pennies…..sad to say your gonna miss out…that’s life. I am certainly not loaded (not that it is any yall’s business) but I am a working professional. I have waited a long time for this……Last words about this topic and I’m done….If your there great if you miss it….enjoy the youtube feed. CASE CLOSED. Steve get back to me. I have now put one on hold for you. I will not let it go until I hear from you.
You seem to think that you’re better than me because you’re older than me. I’m not the jackass who’s telling people to stop “whining” over something reasonable to voice concerns about. There’s nothing saying I’m gonna miss out on this; maybe the SF shows, yes, but nothing says I’ll never be able to see them. Just because you’ve been sucking their dicks since ’88 doesn’t make you a better, more loyal fan than I.
Wow a 17 year old speaking way more sensible than “working professional”!! Im sure if NY had 3 shows and none in Cali, west coasters would be voicing there frustration adn concern over the situation. And i def would not be telling them to stop whining!
Cheers for the comments but remember to play nice
Woah woah woah….I don’t think I am better than anyone…so let’s just get that out of the way…Nick gear down buddy. All I am trying to say is where there is a will there is a way. Joneseses…like I said get yourself down there and I will give you a ticket. Borrow the money from your parents do whatever you need to do. I’ve done it before. If we are all going to get trashy I will renage..apologize what have you. Statements are made…emotions are put behind them…inferences are made. I meant no harm…sorry if I offended…only meant it as some spirited poking fun at. Once again I apologize Joneseses if I upset you…was not my intention. For the record I didn’t tell anyone to “stop whining”. Anyway…I will leave this one alone. I wish I could help you guys out …but I have put myself into considerable debt for this.
Regarding a new album, the important thing to remember is do the guys feel they can at least match or surpass their previous output. They can always work out labels and schedules if they have a body of work that meets their high standard and adds to their legacy. That will be the most crucial factor.
I know. I have no hard feelings against you, just got a bit defensive over what was said. I don’t live with my parents, and they don’t believe in lending me money unless I can pay them back in a timely manner, which doesn’t seem possible right now. I apologize as well, I didn’t mean to be rude.
Nick, it seems like we’re on the same page here! Really wish you (and myself) luck that there will be a NY concert for us to go to.
Well played Joneses…I truly respect that…that’s good Karma…You may have just earned yourself a NYC shows. Take care!!!
Unless they collectively hit themselves on the head and decide to play Hawaii, I will need to drop at least a grand to see them wherever they go. I know nobody cares
but that being said, I’d have to empathize with the whinginess of the US fans who were holding out to buy tickets.
We’re not like Europe with this awesome, cheap rail system to get us around. We’re more spread out and need to fly, drive and stay at hotels (if we’re not resourceful). Having fewer, sparser shows is asking a LOT of the fans that do make the sacrifice to see them – and making the sacrifice can be a tough choice for many.
I’m not saying they should put on more shows in the US because I do believe their fan base here is a lot fewer. But criticizing people, especially the serious fans that find these forums, forr voicing their concerns over having to make a tough decision is borderline trolling, imho.
Firsa…I don’t follow…Trolling…..wtf? Can you expand?
In this case trolling means attempting to provoke an emotional response that deters from the point of the discussion.
Well, after having had such an amazing time seeing them in Australia, I am definitely planning to see a lot more Faith No More in Europe this Summer, as I only saw them three times in 2009, so this is a chance to make the most of their festival appearances this Summer instead.
I don’t think money should equate whether you are true fan or not. There’s a recession on, money is tight. People have families, bills, mortgages – being a huge fan is great but it’s not wrong to have bigger priorities in life.
The band was nice enough to keep their Warfield ticket prices fairly low.
First of all, I actually am sorry to hear that, Firsa.
All I can do is wish you luck, though, and hope that you can see them somehow without having to spend a boatload of cash.
How much did the Warfield tickets cost?
ti mort, my email address is mccullough00@gmail.com I will be at the Wednesday show also. Hope we can work something out! thanks!
Joneses – $42 before ticketmaster…I was expecting them to at least be $70+
Mort- Its all good!! Guess your comments got me aggrivated cuz I am very frustrated!! I def dont want to argue especially with a fellow life long FNM diehard! Enjoy the shows in April and Jones hopefully Ill see you at a show here in NYC!!
the Warfield tickets were around $50 a piece. I’m flying in from Tucson, AZ and I have friends flying in from all over the country for the shows. I just happen to have a friend that lives just north of San Franciso and we’re all crashing at his place for a few days. I’ve already forked out close to $600 for everything. My wife is thrilled! (Not really.) but she understands that I have waited 20 years to see a FNM show. I’ve been to Mr. Bungle, Peeping Tom, Fantomas, etc. but never a FNM show. I can’t wait!
Someone call the WHAAAAAABULANCE. Okay we get that some of you really really want a proper north american tour…move on please.
You’re a bit late on that.
Thats because I`m an adult and have a job and just home from my job that is paying for my trip to see them at The Warfield. That is why I was “a bit late” on that.
Someone had already said exactly what you said. No need to reiterate it.
I`ll be thinking about you when I`m on the floor at The Warfield April 14.
haha sorry everyone! carry on!
OK people, this forum (as our dear Admin stated) is for a healthy debate on FNM’s future plans…not about taking jabs at each other. People can whine and vent if they want to, I’d be doing the same had I not gotten Warfield and Coachella tickets. I’m lucky I could afford it and that I’m somewhat close by. So knock of the “you’re not a real fan” talk or the “haha USA gets the shaft talk” or whatever talk seems to be relevant at the moment. No one here is better than each other, we should be united (or at least tolerating) by our love for a band. Any anger at the tour or their plans should be directed at them, not each other.
/end rant
