Faith No More at Festival Hall, Melbourne second show set list

Faith No More have not long finished their second show in Mebourne, Here is the set list, courtesy of setlist.fm. You may note that it contains such rareish gems as Small Victory, Edge of the World and Mark Bowen and a as yet unidentified one-time only cover.
Mike Patton also joked about Twitter apparently, perhaps piqued that his member has been circulating round the Twittersphere over the past few days.
There are already some cracking photos up on Flickr. None more so than those from Amped photography.

More details as we have them.

I was there last night. Amazing show. Boys in their pastel suits for this one. The Sparks song was not played and the “as yet unidentified one-time only cover” was played instead. I hope someone can enlighten me as to what it was. I must admit, I don’t think it worked well at all I would have much preferred ‘This Town …’.
    Other tidbits:
    - Band comparing us to the crowd the night before. We were much more ‘bouncy’!
    - Patton standing on top of speaker stack during ‘Just A Man’ and then launching himself into the crowd
    - Patton sitting on the edge of the stage side by side with a security guy who fed him water as he sang during ‘Easy’
    - Stevie Wonder bit in ‘Midlife Crisis’
    - The guys were in a generally chatty mood last night.
    - We were taunted with Jimmy Barnes prior to ‘Small Victory’
    - Roddy mentioned we were the true fans as we actually bought the first tickets!

  2. Bort says:

Went to both main Melbourne sideshows and once again was blown away by the performance. I think the first nights setlist was slightly more enjoyable for me personally, but MARK BOWEN! I couldn’t believe it.

The crowd was bouncier last night because about 60% of the first nights crowd were fans of AFI who had no real interest in Faith No More.

  3. Shawn E Mac says:

Someone please I.D. the unknown cover and thats a great touch slipping Stevie Wonder in there.

  4. Gino says:

The Stevie Wonder bit mentioned by Rob & Shawn during Midlife Crisis was the openning to Sir Duke.
Would be interested in finding out what the mystery song was. Someone must know!

  5. Daz says:

As much as I loved last night, mike seemed to have a few mic problems, you could tell he was getting peed at the soundboard guys. Great show but would have preferred the first show as I was dying to here digging the grave and this town.

Finishing with stripsearch wasn’t the best way to end it. Still loved it but was hoping for a little something extra (maybe longer) since it sold out in 3 minutes. Was great to see them again, hopefully they’re back soon…

  6. Dan says:

Crowd was great last night. The setlist wasn’t quite as enjoyable though which was a shame. We Care A Lot or Digging the Grave would have gone off if they’d been played at the end. Still I’ve been 3 times and have heard what I’ve wanted. Just thinking in terms of people generally that were there. I know a few people that were disappointed not to hear either of those 2 and with the crowd buzzing like it was would have been great to see just how wild they would have gone. Off to Soundwave shortly, and then that’s my FNM week done!!!…damn

Oh, I chatted to Tim (they’re manager) briefly last night. I was at Cherry Bar and so were the band. They were in the room out the back though. I could’ve spoken to Mike P at the end of the night but I chose not to hassle him, same with Bill. EODM were there as well as they played a surprise acoustic set at 10.45. Tim’s a really nice guy. We told him that before we learned his name last night we’ve just been referring to him as John Lennon.

Something else. Patton was really pissed with the sound last night and several times went off at the mixer….and during one of the songs you just saw him get down near the speaker and scream “Jesus!”. My mate said he thought there was no fold-back or something.

  7. alien_visionary says:

Great to see Mark Bowen back on the setlist!!

  8. Alan Rembach says:

yes, I agree the crowd was really good for the 2nd night! Mark Bowen was a huuuge hightlight…my only complaint/dissapointent is that Be Agressive and As the worm turns wasnt played last night…BUT was one of the best gigs Ive ever seen….

  9. FaithAPlenty says:

In regards to the sound, which was impressive but would blow out whenever Mike went in to a deep scream – he gave that sound guy a barreling all night. The sound guy obviously got it wrong all night, but i really don’t see how behaving the way that Mike was is going to constructively achieve anything.
Not only that, Mike also seemed to be arguing with the drummer (Bordin), can anyone confirm what this may have been about?

  10. Rob says:

    @ FaithAPlenty:
Patton is ALWAYS arguing with Bordin. In fact, it just isn’t an FNM show without the two Mikes pissing each other off. Every time I see them, there they are arguing like old marrieds. It was funny when Roddy pointed it out last night and said they were “talking about their taxes” :)

  11. daz says:

I wonder if thats why they ended the night with stripsearch, do to the sound problems? Seems a strange song to end on, and there wasn’t really a big good bye to the audience. I know Mike P is a perfectionist, maybe he got sick of the sound problems (sounded fine, maybe was feedback issues or something) but i was on the side near the sound mixer, and boy did he get a barrelling all night from Mike !!

At least we got a song never heard before (switch) although i dont think anyone in the audienc eknew what it was. Maybe they should have palyed 1-2 mins of Jimmy barnes, acdc John Farnham, thats what i was hoping for, a bit of a laugh.

  12. Bomb're says:

The Real Thing was the highlight. last night….. end of each verse “Unforgettable”….

  13. john says:

The Sir Duke sample is from the main horn break not the intro….also the unknown cover was the Siouxsie and the Banshees’ song ‘Switch’.

  14. moose146 says:

Great show!!!! I did’nt think the sound was bad. Was happy to hear The Real Thing and Riccochet, would have loved to hear King for a day because l love the crazy endings, but hey you cant have everything. Faith No More really do seem to love us Australians, and i think Mike P really enjoys Melbourne

  15. Heath Boswell says:

Great show, enjoyed very much. Small victory, Mark Bowen and suprise your dead among the higlights for me. Not wanting to focus to much on negatives, but did anyone notice during edge of the world, Mike sang same verse twice. Seemed to throw the band a little. Would of loved to heard Anne’s song, we care alot or maybe as the worm turns. Great gig though.

  16. Kelly Merkel says:

I have some decent videos I’m currently uploading from Thu night if anyone is interested.

I got some good videos, but don’t know how to upload them onto YouTube as they are Arcvid Lite videos. Anyone know how to upload them?

  22. Sophie says:

I meant AVCHD Lite videos. Can’t upload them.
