One consequence of the Helsinki festival announcement is that Faith No More will definitely not be playing the Sczecin Rock Festival, confounding earlier rumours. The Polish festival takes place on 24-25 June but Faith No More now have dates confirmed for 24 June in Helsinki and 25 June in Norway. However, in a Twitter update yesterday Roddy Bottum – replying to Polish fan franiamaj – said: “Do not give up hope, Poland. You are near and dear to our hearts…” The comment has been picked up by the Polish media. The biggest Polish music festival this summer is the Open’er festival which takes on 2-5 July, the busiest festival weekend in Europe with Roskilde and Rock Werchter also taking place.

Update: Radio Szczecin has news piece about the apparent breakdown in negotiations between Faith No More and the Szczecin organisers. As it deals with the nitty-gritty of finance I’ll not attempt a Google-aided translation but any Polish fans feel free to interpret.
